Moses said that God would raise up a prophet like him, and indeed there were many prophets, but none fit the bill as well as Jesus. Throughout the Bible, there is a recurring theme of a prophet who fulfills part of the prophecy but not all. Also, men like David and Isaiah seem intent on pointing to the future fulfillment of the ancient prophecy.

No matter how many prophets there were, they weren’t enough. We needed one more, and the good news is that He came!

Advent Season 2011

December 2, 2011 by

The Christmas season is upon us, and once again we celebrate everything that Jesus means to us and everything that he has done for us.

  • We celebrate that God would send his Son.
  • We celebrate that the Son would willingly come.
  • We celebrate that everything we need, he came to give.

That’s the theme for our Advent season this year. Jesus came to give us everything we need. From teaching us about our worry over food and clothes to saving us from our sin and everything in between. He is our Prophet, our Priest, our King, our Brother, and our Savior.

He has come to us to be for us and with us everything we need.

How generous is our God!

Join us each Sunday through January 1 (except for Christmas Day) to hear a series of lessons on God’s greatest gift to you.

He Came, Advent 2011

All people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. Those who repent of their sins and surrender their lives to Jesus are regenerated by the Holy Spirit (John 1:12-13, John 3:3, 16-17, Acts 20:21, Ephesians 2:1-9, Titus 3:5).

In this message, Pastor Jeff walks us through the central truth of salvation.

The Holy Spirit is the mysterious and often forgotten third member of the Trinity. Some churches emphasize the role of the Spirit above nearly everything else including the Bible. Some churches emphasize the Bible and every other doctrine while effectively ignoring the Holy Spirit. Some debate on what role the Holy Spirit plays in the world today.

Well, if you consider the teaching of the New Testament, it’s clear who the Holy Spirit is and what He does, at least in general terms. It’s also clear that we can never predict what the Holy Spirit might do for any individual person or even for any individual church with any specificity.

In this message, Pastor Jeff shows us from the Bible what we need to be clear on when it comes to the Holy Spirit.
