Long gone are the days when people “attended” church. Too many people have been bored by church services, and too often the church has been known only by the Sunday events it holds. Well, it’s clear these days that church is about something more, and it must be about something more.

  • People who have been in church for a while have grown bored with the “spectating.”
  • People who don’t regularly go to church have grown cynical of the Sunday-focused Churchianity they have seen around them.
  • Jesus never established a regular event of any sort.

Now, we aren’t eliminating our Sunday services, but there are 5 key elements of our church that give you an opportunity to take your faith outside the Sunday walls into your daily life.

Involvement Opportunities

1. Join a Life Group

The first and most important opportunity we have at LCC is our Life Group. In fact, as far as we’re concerned there is nothing more important in our church than our Life Groups. No one can fully understand the power of supportive Christian relationships until they experience it for themselves.

2. Do Coaching

The second most important thing we offer in our church is one-to-one spiritual journey coaching. Whether you are new in the faith, undecided or twenty years into spiritual maturity, you can benefit from either being a coach or finding a coach. To learn more about our coaching system, click here.

3. Join a Ministry

The third thing you can do to put your faith in action is to volunteer your time in one of the various ministry programs of the church. As of this writing, we have these opportunities:

  • Kidopolis Children’s Ministry
  • [ name to be determined ] Student & Youth Ministry
  • Worship Band
  • Audio, Video, Tech Support.
  • Web Team
  • Hospitality Team
  • Prayer Team
  • Follow-up Team

4. Do a Service Project

Periodically, we have ideas for ways to serve the people of our city and demonstrate the love of Jesus to them. Your involvement could be waiting around for one of those moments to come and then join in wholeheartedly.

However, your involvement could be in the brainstorming and developing of the project itself. We are constantly on the lookout for new ways to show the love of Jesus to the people of this town, so if you have an idea, suggest it! Contact Us.

Additionally, there’s a kind of service project, you probably haven’t even thought of. It’s the simple act of being a good neighbor in the name of Jesus. How about shoveling someone else’s driveway, inviting your neighbor over for dinner, or writing a letter to a friend about something God has been teaching you. Those things are all forms of service and they require very little organization to accomplish.

5. Give Money

The final way you can get involved in the church is to give financially. Some things in the church are expensive. Leadership is expensive. Facilities are expensive. Some service projects are expensive. Marketing is expensive. Though we strive hard to keep our costs as low as possible, the bottom line reality is that to do the kind of ministry God is leading us into in this city will require significant amounts of cash.

If you have benefited at all from LCC, our services, our website, or our people, know that all of that benefit has been bought and paid for by someone. Some have made great financial sacrifices to get this church off the ground. They didn’t do it to get the church off the ground. They didn’t do it to make it back. They did it to benefit you, and they pray that the benefit will multiply far beyond even you.

We want to encourage you to take the faith risk of giving God 10% of your paycheck, and you can do that in our services each Sunday or make electronic donations.

A Final Word

Listen, this isn’t some lame plea to get you to help us out with your time or your money. No, this is all simply about our conviction that at the core of every person’s life must be some basic values. Our Core Values are to put God First, Live in Community, Grow Like Jesus, and Serve in Ministry.

For more on our Core Values, read About Us or listen to the messages in the Fresh Air series.

We’re convinced that sitting in a church service on Sunday isn’t going to cut it. We’re convinced that churches have been known by their services on Sunday far more than by their service to the world on the other days. We’re convinced it’s time to change that.

On top of all that, we’re convinced that we need you, and we’re convinced that you need us too.
