#057. Big Questions

“Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?” — Matthew 11:3
With this one question, John the Baptist gives us the reassurance that regardless of a person’s spiritual maturity, there will always be lingering issues, doubts and questions. The difference between John and many of us, though, lies in the fact that when he was faced with doubt and disillusionment, he pursued Jesus for the answer rather than trying to figure things out for himself.
In this series, we tackle some of the most nagging questions of faith and life to see what the Bible has to say about them and why we should believe the Bible in the first place. For five weeks, we will be dealing with the biggest questions of faith and taking on-the-fly questions from the congregation at the end of every service.
Here are the currently scheduled questions:
- Why is this world so full of tragedy, pain, and general crud?
- What is the deal with the Bible—human authors, years of translation, political conflict—is it really the Word of God?
- What’s the deal with all the different churches, and while we’re on the topic, why are church people so hypocritical, divisive, and judgmental?
- Is Jesus really the ONLY way to heaven?
Be sure to make it for every week.

02. If God, Why Evil
The oldest spiritual question is the one that remains unanswered today. Though many good answers have been given, none are fully satisfying to us. This should tip us off that maybe the question itself is misguided. Perhaps, rather than putting God on trial for his management skills, we should address the Big Question behind this [...]

04. Which Church Is Right?
Beginning with Matthew 16:13, Jesus guides his followers into an understanding of what his followers should do and be after his death. 05. Is Jesus It?
In this final message of our Big Questions series, Pastor Jeff addresses the question ultimately underlying all the others. “Will I trust Jesus?” The claim of Christianity is that Jesus validates the Bible, Jesus rules the church, and Jesus reveals God to us, so the question of our relationship to him is really the most [...]
