A Catholic man will call himself a Christian, and he will pray memorized prayers, follow the Pope, and baptize his infants. A Lutheran woman will call herself a Christian and will recite memorized creeds, sing songs by Martin Luther, and baptize her children. A Baptist family will call themselves Christian and will boycot Disney, sing songs from the 1940s, and baptize grown-ups only. A Pentecostal family will call themselves Christian and will speak in tongues, fall on the ground during worship services, and baptize grown-ups once with water and another time with the Spirit.

Which of these groups is Christian?

The truth is that even though we have come to understand Christianity to be a “religion” or a system of beliefs, the heart of Christianity is not any of that. It’s ultimately about a man named Jesus, whom the Bible calls Christ.
