give people life
Jesus: “I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18)
It’s silly for us to think that the church is about us or what we can do for God. The church is about God and what he wants to do in, through, and for the people he created and loves. So, what does Jesus want for people?
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. — John 10:10
Our mission is simply to give people life, real life in Christ.
our vision
And we… are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. — 2 Corinthians 3:18
We are not who we will become. We are not now who we should be. But we are being transformed.
Every person regardless of spiritual background, upbringing, or current life circumstances has a step of spiritual growth to take. That’s the model we see in Jesus. He would always find people where they were at whatever point in time he found them and then he would challenge them to take a step—a step of faith, repentance, commitment, obedience—just one step at a time.
- It’s our vision to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and motivate people from all walks of life to become devoted to him one step at a time.
- It’s our vision to build these individuals into a community that grows more and more like Jesus one step at a time.
- It’s our vision to multiply these communities all over Tippecanoe County one church at a time.
- It’s our vision that by multiplying and networking churches in Tippecanoe County, the transforming love of Christ will positively impact every single resident of the County within 10 years.
- It’s our vision to be part of a global movement that takes the transforming love of Christ around the world one region at a time.
Beginning on the southside, with God’s help, we will launch a movement of Christian community to give every person in Tippecanoe County a clear expression of full life in Christ by 2016.
beyond our walls
Ultimately, our hearts desire is to be a church not bounded by a building but expressing itself in the vibrant lives of people who have been transformed and empowered by a vital relationship with their Creator. To live this out in practical ways both locally and globally, we have adopted the methodology of the PEACE Plan initially thought up by Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in California. The PEACE Plan is simply a way of addressing the five biggest global problems the way Jesus would address them.
