Love, as shown in the Bible, is the one-sided full abandon effort of a holy God to heal his enemies. In this second message in the series Pastor Jeff explains that love is a top down thing.

If you have been looking for a way to be more involved in the global work of spreading the news of Jesus, there is an opportunity in our own back yard. The International Center is a place where international students at Purdue can gather to practice English, learn about American culture and relate to each other. It’s actually a great chance for us to build cross-cultural relationships and may perhaps lead to someone learning about Jesus for the first time.

Check out the site, and if you want to visit the Center sometime, let me know how it goes!

God bless!

For those of you who don’t know, Darlene Baker, the wife of our former drummer and friend to the church, posted the following about her sister on her Facebook Page this week:

My twin sister, Marlene Martinez, and her family (husband Tony and 2 teenage sons, Donovan and Uriah) had a house fire Tuesday morning September 8 at 1:00 am and they lost EVERYTHING! Any help of donations, money or gift cards would be greatly appreciated–even for restaurants, pizza places, etc. Here is a list of items as an example of things they could use now and in the near future, included is a list of clothing sizes.

  • Tony — shoes (10 – 10.5) shirt (L/XL) pants (34/34 – 36/34, MED)

  • Marlene — shoes (7) shirt (M/L) pants (5/6, MED)

  • Donovan & Uriah — shoes (10) shirt (Mens S/M) pants (30/30, S/M)

  • Kitchen Items – dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, skillets, bowls, utensils, dish clothes and dish towels, dish soap, non-perishable food, etc

  • Bathroom items – deodorant, toilet paper, bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes, soap, etc.
  • Laundry items – detergent, softener

This isn’t a need but any home decor that anyone would like to donate so when they do get some kind of place as their own to make it feel more at home until they do get their own place would be nice.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and caring hearts.

It would be great if our church could rally support for this family. If you could contribute anything at all bring it to church on Sunday or contact Darlene directly. I don’t want to give out her personal information here, but you can find it all out by visiting her Facebook Profile and also reading her note about the fire
