In our final message in this series, Pastor Jeff walks us through some very deep thoughts from the apostle Paul about how to determine your level of spiritual depth. Three principles rise to the surface in Paul’s concluding points. Have you ever wondered how deep your spiritual life is? Then use these principles as your own personal measuring stick.
Speaker: Jeff Mikels :: Passage: Colossians 3:17-4:6
Since I’m sending this out on Friday afternoon, I thought I’d remind you all that the all church cookout is tonight at the Hardebeck’s place. The fun starts at 6:30, so come on out. If you need directions, call me at 765-404-0807.
Now for the stuff that will be in the bulletin this week.
That’s what I heard over and over from people who were at our service last week. Our band (thanks to Eric, Len, and Lance!) really stepped it up last week, and we had a lot of fun. Listen to the end of our latest gathering to see what I mean.
I’ll conclude our series of messages on the book of Colossians by looking at Paul’s concluding words. At first glance, it seems like he’s throwing out a bunch of commands, but there are some big principles at work here in these final verses. Come for the conclusion this week and find out the every day principles to staying deep with God.
How do you handle the pressure of change? How will you handle the changes in your future? Those are the questions we will be answering in the next few weeks as we dig into what the Bible has to say about not just surviving through change or enduring it but about mastering it!
It will be a powerful and practical series.
October is our Grand Opening month as we introduce ourselves to the public as Lafayette Community Church. We’re sending out 35,000 postcards to households in Lafayette, and will have two radio spots airing next week on WAZY 96.5 (Hear what they’ll sound like: spot1 spot2). They will begin airing on Monday, September 29, at the following times:
Here’s how you can be involved to help make this an awesome Sunday and an awesome month:

How deeply into God can you go? It’s a big question for sure! In this third message of our series Pastor Jeff challenges us with the thought that we are already as deep into God as we can be, but that three forces in our lives have the power to pull us away from God. If you want a deeply personal connection with God, you need to put these principles into practice.
Speaker: Jeff Mikels :: Passage: Colossians 3:1-17
Can you believe it’s already September 21? October is right around the corner, and Halloween decorations are starting to appear everywhere. Time flies when you’re having fun, and I hope you are having as much fun as I am!
October 5th will be our Grand Opening as Lafayette Community Church! I’ll be teaching a new series of messages on Mastering Change… when your life is on the edge, when you have to say good-bye, and when you’ve tried to change but can’t.
Pick up a promotional card from the information table this week and use it to invite people to our Grand Opening!
Sign up Sunday or send me an email to let us know you can make it to the Hardebeck’s this weekend.
Last week, Bob McFadden brought the message and Aaron Arkellin led us in music while I was up in Chicago. Though the service didn’t get recorded, all the reports I heard were that the service went well and there was a great deal of enthusiasm for what Bob taught. Do you remember the 5 essential things for a deep walk with Christ? Do you remember the 3 common statements that actually aren’t in the Bible?
Last week, I spoke at a supporting church and had the opportunity to share a bit about all that God has been doing in our midst over the past year or so including our name change and the direction this next year will take. It was an encouraging Sunday for me and I hope for Bethany Baptist in Harwood Heights, Illinois as well.

Continuing our series on getting deeper with God, Pastor Jeff has recruited Pastor Bob McFadden to come and give this week’s message. It’s a topic right up Bob’s alley, and according to him, one of his favorite passages of Scripture. You won’t want to miss this incredible teaching on an incredible passage.
Bob will be joined by his friend and ministry colleague Aaron Arkellin who will be leading our worship with his band.
Both Bob and Aaron work for Evangelical Covenant Church, but are so excited about what we are all about that they have come to spend the Sunday with us.
The Mikels’ aren’t taking the weekend off, though. Pastor Jeff will be speaking to a church up in Chicago that has supported us financially and prayerfully for nearly three years now.
This October, we are officially announcing our new name to the city by holding a Grand Opening celebration all month long. Thousands of postcards will be mailed out the last week of September, so talk it up to your friends!
